Happy Birthday Mac

Our little man is 2! He had some of his construction buddies over for a party on Saturday; they all wore their hard hats in case the party got wild.

He got some great gifts, and had a lot of fun, and ate his specially requested meal of pizza, blue juice, and cake.

The dump truck cake that he finally decided on after much deliberation.

He did enjoy eating it!

The next day was actually his birthday, and this was the sight outside his room when he woke up….what could it be?

After opening the gifts on top – new shoes, new clothes (thanks Grandma Reid and Auntie Shelley), and new toys from his sisters….

…he discovered his new BIG BOY BED! He was pretty psyched about it, and has been sleeping in it with no problems ever since. (We did move it out of the living room before he slept in it)

For everyone who contributed to making this birthday so great for our little guy, consider this hug to be for you!

March Madness

Filed under: Uncategorized — by dcreid @ 7:34 pm

There was a “Spring Fair” for kids at the rec center this week (somewhat ironic that it was snowing that morning), so we went and got our faces painted, bounced in a bouncy castle, played with some toys, generally had some fun. Olivia got a unicorn…

….Brina got a rainbow….

…and Mac got a lizard. Don’t be too impressed that he sat still long enough for that to be painted, because the lady that did it is AMAZING, and very fast, so although he did very well, he didn’t actually have to sit still that long at all.

Now about the title of this post. For those who aren’t living in a sports-crazy house, it refers to the tournament (in March, of course) wherein the NCAA college basketball title is bestowed. It begins with 64 teams and is gradually narrowed to one, obviously. Well, this evening there were some games on, and since the girls don’t care yet, they were playing in the living room and making it difficult for Dobby to see or hear the TV. He made some changes in the seating arrangement, and Malcolm thought it was a great idea, so here is the first of probably many March Madness games to be enjoyed by father and son.

Easter Saturday

We asked the Easter bunny to come early this year, as Dobby is on Worship Team at church tomorrow, so he wouldn’t be around to watch the hunt if it was in the morning. The bunny obliged, and when naptime was over, the kids discovered that he had hidden some treasures around the backyard. Some were chocolate eggs, some were fuzzy pens (Sabrina’s holding a green one in the bottom right of the collage), and some were sidewalk-chalk bunnies, as Malcolm is discovering in the picture above.

After the hunt, Noah and Isaiah (and their mom and dad) came over to help decorate some Rice Krispie eggs. The kids were all quite focused on the task.

Sabrina didn’t want Isaiah to be left out, so she was feeding him bits of her egg as she worked – he stayed quite close to her chair after that!

Proudly displaying their handiwork!

Tomorrow, when Grandpa and Grandma are around, we’ll all help to consume these treats (along with a bit of paska!).

It’s a ….

If anyone read the last post, you saw Malcolm getting busy helping to make something. We are now ready to reveal what the project is. This is the spot where it was destined to go.

Here is Olivia gathering nails while Dobby started the construction.

Sorry this picture is sideways… if you turn your head, you can see the frame coming together.

The bottom is on, and the seats are being put in the corners…

It’s a new sandbox!! We are very happy about this! Dobby did a great job on it, Uncle Greg took the boys in his truck to get the load of sand yesterday, and now we can play! I’m just not sure how I’m going to keep all that sand from ending up in my kitchen (since that’s where the back door leads into). Oh, well, I guess I’ll just be sweeping more!

March Stuff

So, judging from the lack of posting, you might think nothing is going on around here…not so, my friends, not so. There is always something going on around here! A couple of weekends ago, we went to the zoo, and were able to meet the newest addition, a 7 week old baby giraffe. He was very cute, especially when he got excited and ran around like a puppy, but with insanely long legs and neck – very awkward puppy!

The girls got to ride a giraffe….

We’re also working on a project, which is not quite ready to be displayed yet, but here’s a shot of the work in progress – can you guess what it’s going to be? (This picture more clearly displays what it used to be – the nails are actually coming out of this board, not going in).

Today the kids and I went to Opa and Oma’s house to color Easter eggs and hunt for their baskets. I didn’t have the camera along there, but this is what they came home with.

And also, we’ve been busy loving each other.

Not a dull moment around here!
